Geographical position: At the foot of the hills of
Castagneto Carducci, along the Bolgheri Wine Road.
The soil: middle hard clayey soil with stony structure.
Age of the vineyard: 5 years old.
Training system: Cordon spur.
Density: 7.000 plants per hectare.
Production: Around 7.000 kg of grapes per hectare with
A yield of 65 % of wine per 100 kg of grapes.
The Wine
FORNACELLE is the name of the Estate.
This unusual wine combines two great grapes, the Bordeaux
French Sémillon, and the Italian Fiano. The Semillon is a
many-sided grape, which produces perfumed and bodied
wines; Instead the Fiano gives to the wine freshness,
complexity and longevity.
Grapes: 50% Semillon, 50% Fiano.
Alcohol / Volume: 14 %
Vinification method
Pure vinification (every single type of
grape). Alcoholic fermentation in French oak barriques. Length
of fermentation: 30 days.
Refinement: 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
Production: about 500 cases per year.
Organoleptical evaluation
Colour: light golden yellow.
Nose: fresh and fruity, with lots of lemon rind and cream
character.
Taste: full body and a long, rich finish.
Drinking temperature: 12 °C.
Food Matches
Potato Tortelli with mushrooms, crustaceous dishes, tuna,
white meat.
